Japan J. League Cup

Jubilo Iwata -1/2

Vegalta Sendai under 2

With nine teams still in the hunt for the top two places in each group going into the final round of games, the possible permutations are quite complicated! In Group A, Tokyo will advance if they win at Cerezo, or if they draw at Cerezo and Sendai do not win at Omiya. Sendai will advance if they win at Omiya, or draw at Omiya and Tokyo lose and Niigata do not win by at least 4 goals in Nagoya. Omiya will advance if they beat Sendai and Tokyo lose and Niigata do not win by a sufficiently large score. Niigata can advance with a big win at Nagoya if Tokyo lose and Sendai do not win. Group leaders Kyoto will advance if either Tokyo or Sendai do not win. In Group B, Yamagata will advance if they draw at Iwata. Iwata will advance if they beat Yamagata. Yokohama will go through if they beat Urawa at Yokohama. Group B leaders Shimizu will advance if Yokohama do not win.

The top two teams in each group will join the four teams involved in this year's AFC Champions League in the two-legged quarter-finals on September 1st and 8th with the winners of Group A playing the runners-up in Group B and the winners of Group B playing the runners-up in Group A. In the other matches, Kawasaki Frontale play Kashima Antlers and Gamba Osaka play Sanfrecce Hiroshima. The two-legged semi-finals will take place on September 29th and October 10th, and the final on November 3rd.
